Owls Post Lowest Rounds of Year; Still Finish 6th
Santa Maria, CA (Men's Golf) -- It's a testament to how tough the Western State Conference is when it comes to Men's Golf based on the performances on Monday afternoon. The Citrus College Men's Golf team posted their lowest rounds of the year at Santa Maria Country Club at the WSC Event hosted by Allan Hancock, but still finished sixth, a measly three strokes back of the third place finisher.
Sophomore Shane Favinger took the course head on, on Monday firing a even par round of 72. Fellow sophomore Ryan Belliston was just behind him with a 73, and sophomore Etsuyuki Fukaya bounced back from a rough couple of weeks with a 74. Freshman Daniel Cheng came into the clubhouse with a 79, while sophomore Darren Foster battled through a wrist injury and finished up with an 82.
As a team the Owls shot a 380. That was one shot behind fifth place Bakersfield, two shots behind fourth place Ventura, and three shots of third place Allan Hancock.
Citrus will be back out on the course for the final regular season competition on Monday. The Owls will take part in the WSC Championships and looking for a shot at the post-season at Marshallia Ranch Golf Course.
