Glendora, CA (Women's Basketball) -- Citrus College Women's Basketball players Kristine Reyes and Aysia Randall rounded out the Owls' sophomore matriculation class this week. Randall has signed a scholarship offer with San Diego Christian College, while Reyes has accepted an opportunity to continue playing at the University of La Verne. Randall will join a Hawks team that participates in the Golden State Athletic Conference of the NAIA. This past season Randall appeared in 24 games with eight starts for the Owls, averaging 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest. "They [San Diego Christian] have a good program that is hungry to win. I like that I'll be surrounded by athletes that will be working hard, and I think that I can learn from that situation," Randall said. "Citrus has taught me a lot of discipline and how to be self motivated. It's taught me to strive for perfection and nothing less. It's been a lot of hard work over the last two years, but it all pays off." Meanwhile, Reyes will move on to NCAA DIII the University of La Verne next season. Reyes has been a solid contributor to the Owls the last two years, appearing in all 54 games for Citrus in that span and averaging 5.2 points a game in her career. "I've always wanted to go to La Verne, and now that they want me to play for them too, I'm ready to pursue to it," Reyes said. "[Citrus] was a great experience. It's a great program. I've learned a lot and I've grown. They have a great coaching staff, and I've learned to become more aggressive on the floor." "This group of sophomores has been a special collection of young ladies and Aysia and Kristine are no exception," said Citrus College Head Women's Basketball Coach Tamara McDonald. "We are proud of their accomplishments thus far, and know they will continue to work hard and succeed at the next level." This season alone, the Owls will be matriculating six sophomores to the four-year level. That's the most for the program in recent history. |
