Owls Continue to Improve at WSC Quad #1
Bakersfield, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Swim team continued to show signs of improvement over this past weekend when they participated in their second Western State Conference meet of the season. The Owls swam alongside host Bakersfield College, Los Angeles Pierce College, and Cuesta College in the Quad Meet #1 Friday afternoon.
Freshman Chelsea Fujita-Haffner continued to impress early on with a fourth place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Fujita-Haffner finished her race in a time of 1:09.39. Freshman Candee Baca had a strong showing in the 50 Free, finishing seventh overall with a time of 30.97 seconds.
Freshman Marianna Preciado finished 5th in the 100 Free, with a time of 1:05.31 over two seconds faster than her time at the Mt. SAC Invite last weekend. Freshman Lora Marquez-Salgado turned in a strong performance in the 100 Back, with a time of 1:13.35 knocking five seconds off her previous weekend's effort. Freshman Kelsey Droegemueller also had a big improvement on the day finishing the 500 Free in 6:30.79 taking off 10 seconds from the Mt. SAC Invite.
When it came to the relays, the 400 Yard Free team of Kirsten Pampu, Marquez-Salgado, Baca, and Haffner-Fujita, turned in a solid performance. They finished the event in a time of 4:14.66.
The Owls will be back in the water in two weeks when they resume conference meets at LA Valley College on March 18th in the WSC Quad #2. College of the Canyons and Cuesta College will also be in attendance. The first event is scheduled to race at 2:30 PM.
