San Jacinto, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Basketball team's 2013-2014 season came to a close on Wednesday evening at the hands of #3 seed Mt. San Jacinto College. The Owls kept it close until midway through the second half when the Eagles ran away with things in a 61-92 loss.
With a raucous crowd on their side, Mt. San Jacinto took an early lead in Wednesday's contest. The Owls would lead just once in the game, taking a 14-13 lead with 13:30 to go in the first half. After that Mt. San Jacinto went on a 16-1 win to go up, 29-15. Citrus rallied cutting the lead back down to single digits, and went into the break trailing 38-29.
Out of the half, Citrus scored the first five points, but the Eagles answered right back. The Owls would keep their deficit around single digits, until a huge run that lasted a little over nine minutes put the game away. The Eagles scored 23 of the next 29 points, putting Citrus in too big of a hole.
In the loss, Citrus was led by a team high 14 points from freshman John Roach. Freshman Chris Reyes added 13.
With the loss, Citrus' season comes to a close with a 16-9 record.
