Despite being out-rebounded, outshot and outscored in the paint, Citrus Men's Basketball persevered and opened conference play with a win over LA Valley Saturday, 79-75.

Citrus did find some rhythm from long range, sinking 12 threes compared to just 4 by LA Valley, but the Monarchs outshot the Owls 51% to 41% from the field, and more than doubled the Owl's points in the paint, 46-20. Despite that, Citrus' defense proved to be difficult to contend with, as the Owls scored 28 points off turnovers to the Monarch's 14.

Josh Caston led all scorers in the game with 22, going 7 for 11 from the field. Sharpshooter Colby Orr dropped 20 points, including 12 from beyond the arc. Sam Gagliardi led the Owls in rebounding with 8 and Treyvon Watts-Hale dished out 7 assists and notched 5 steals to chip in.

Citrus moves to 12-6 on the season overall and is 1-0 in WSC East conference play. The Owls play again tomorrow as they host conference opponent Glendale at 5:00 PM. Glendale is also 1-0 in the WSC East.
