Ricketts Named WSC Athlete of the Month After Dominant November

Citrus College sophomore point guard Leo Ricketts has been named the Western State Conference Athlete of the Month for November, following a dominant stretch that helped lead the No. 4-ranked Owls to a 5–1 record.

Citrus rolled through the month with high-powered wins over Orange Coast (126–68), San Bernardino Valley (114–77), Allan Hancock (94–71), MiraCosta (102–68) and Mt. San Jacinto (133–91). The Owls' only setback came in a double-overtime thriller against No. 2 Fullerton on November 21.

Ricketts has guided the team's success, delivering one elite performance after another. He opened the month with 19 points, seven assists, three steals and three rebounds against Orange Coast on Nov. 4. He followed with 21 points against San Bernardino Valley on Nov. 7, and then posted 16 points and eight assists in a strong all-around outing against Allan Hancock on Nov. 14.

In one of his best games as an Owl, Ricketts poured in a then-career-high 35 points to go with three assists, three rebounds and a steal in the double-overtime battle at Fullerton on Nov. 21. He capped the month by scoring 26 points on 9-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-6 from three, while adding six rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win over Mt. San Jacinto on Nov. 25.

For the month, Ricketts averaged 20.0 points, 3.7 assists and 2.8 rebounds while shooting 53.3% from the field and 37.3% from three. He led an Owls offense that ranked among the state's elite, posting 106.5 points per game (1st in California), 51.8% shooting from the floor (1st), 43.3% from beyond the arc (1st) and 77.2% at the foul line (3rd).
