No. 22-ranked Citrus College dug deep to grab a 78-70 victory over LA Valley College Wednesday night.
The Owls improve to 19-6 overall and 9-2 in Western State Conference action, while the Monarchs drop 12-13 on the year, 5-6 in conference.
Jolleen Olia led the Owls with 33 points (12-for-21) and was one rebound shy of a double-double. Gabby Valdez followed with 12 points (4-for-12) and Liz Camargo (4-for-9) chipped in 10 points.
After trailing by two points at halftime, the Owls opened the third quarter on an 11-2 run to jump out to a 45-38 lead.
LA Valley tried to keep it close, but Citrus built as high as an 18-point lead in the fourth to all but seal the victory.
Citrus heads to No. 7-ranked Glendale College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
