Owls Down Corsairs for Seventh Conference Win
Women's Basketball hosted Santa Monica College tonight, picking up their second conference win over the Corsairs by a score of 79-38.
Citrus College moves to 15-9 overall and 7-4 in conference games, while Santa Monica College goes to 5-17 overall and 1-10 in conference.
The Owls outscored the Corsairs in every quarter, shooting 31-of-88 from the field and knocking down 14-of-41 three-pointers. Citrus College forced 27 turnovers, scoring 39 points off those turnovers while outscoring Santa Monica College in second chance points (18-2), points in the paint (30-8), fastbreak points (12-0) and bench points (23-4). The Owls grabbed 57 rebounds, the most in recent program history.
Jolleen Olia led the Owls with 17 points, knocking down 3-of-8 from beyond the arc while adding eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Both Breanna Escobedo and Leilani Argueta scored 12 points, Escobedo added five rebounds, four assists and three steals while Argueta grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, recorded a game-high six steals, and added two assists. Maileeh Suasti scored nine points with seven rebounds, four assists and one steal. Elizabeth Camargo contributed nine points, four steals, three assists and three rebounds off the bench while Deija Mitchell had seven points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
Citrus College will host Bakersfield College, a team they beat on the road earlier this year, this Saturday, February 15th at 1 p.m.
