Citrus Takes Halftime Lead but Falls to ELAC in Second Half

Citrus College Women's Basketball dropped a 79–67 loss to East Los Angeles College on Wednesday, December 4, in a challenging road test at East Los Angeles College.

The loss moves the Owls to 2–6 overall, while the Huskies improve to 6–5 on the season.

ELAC set the tone early, taking a 20–13 lead after the opening quarter. Despite forcing eight Husky turnovers, the Owls couldn't capitalize offensively, shooting just 6-of-23 from the field and 1-of-5 from three.

Citrus swung the momentum in the second quarter with its best stretch of the night, outscoring ELAC 24–16. The Owls' offense found rhythm, knocking down 9-of-20 from the floor and converting 6-of-7 free throws while generating five more turnovers. Citrus carried a 37–36 lead into halftime.

The Huskies answered with a dominant third quarter, shooting 10-of-15 and 4-of-5 from the line to reclaim control. The Owls struggled to match the surge, going 5-of-16 from the field and 2-of-8 from deep. ELAC built a nine-point cushion heading into the fourth, where they maintained steady control and outscored the Owls 19–16 to close out the game.

For the night, Citrus finished 26-of-81 (32.1%) from the field and 6-of-32 (18.8%) from beyond the arc, but showed reliability at the free throw line, hitting 9-of-11. ELAC held a 48–37 rebounding advantage and outscored the Owls 52–36 in the paint, while also leading 16–8 in fast-break points. The game remained competitive throughout, featuring six ties and seven lead changes.

Citrus will look to bounce back on the road this Saturday, December 6, when they travel to Oxnard College for a 5 p.m. matchup with the Condors.
