Ventura, CA -- One week after teammate Lexandra So opened up the 2014 season by winning the 2014 Desert Classic Invitational, fellow frosh Jamie Lopez switched spots with So on the leaderboard and won the two-day 2014 South Coast Tournament.

Lopez got the ball rolling on Sunday morning with a 74 at the tougher Olivas Links Golf Course. Lopez posted the lowest round of the day, besting College of the Desert's Fumika Matsumoto by one stroke. On the second day, Lopez again had a strong round, firing a one under par 71 at Buena Ventura Golf Club. Matsumoto returned the favor from day one though, and bested Lopez by a single stroke, placing the two golfers in a tie at the top of the leaderboard with a two day total of 145.

So didn't fall off despite not finishing first. So, shot a first round 79 before coming back with a 74 earlier today for a two day total of 154 and 5th place overall finish.

As a team, Citrus would finish with a two day total of 707 and grab 7th place. Sophomore Katherine De La Torre bounced back from a rough day one, to shoot a 96 on day two. Freshman Brittany Thelen was the final Citrus scorer on both Sunday and Monday with a 107 and 99.

Day number two of the South Coast also served as the first official Western State Conference Match for the Owls. Citrus would finish third out of the four scoring teams with a 341. Lopez had the lowest individual conference round of the day with her 71, while So finished in a three way tie for third with her 75.
