Owls Sit in Second After Day 1 of CCCAA State Championships
Morro Bay, CA -- After one day of competition, the Citrus College Women's Golf team sits in second place at the 2015 California Community College Athletic Association State Championships. The Owls trail a familiar foe in Santa Barbara City College by 15 strokes, and lead third place Reedley College by eight strokes.
Sophomore Jamie Lopez continued her recent strong streak during the first day of competition with a 76. Sophomore Lexandra So was three strokes back at 79, while freshman Lexi Tunstad shot an 85. Rounding out the scoring rounds was freshman Mackenzy Shafer who posted a 97 for a combined team score of 337.
Individually Lopez sat in second place one stroke back of College of the Desert's Fumika Matsumoto, and tied with Santa Barbara City College's Carolin Chang. So was in fourth place three strokes back of Lopez and Chang, and a stroke ahead of Sierra College's Deedra Dollesin.
The second and final round of competition is set to tee off on Monday morning at Morro Bay at 8:30 AM.
