Owls Set Personal Bests at WSC No. 3

Citrus College Swimming made a splash this past Friday, March 28, as they traveled to Bakersfield College for the WSC No. 3 meet. Facing off against competitors from Bakersfield College, Los Angeles Valley College, Los Angeles Pierce College, and College of the Canyons, the Owls delivered an impressive performance, racking up 10 personal best times. 

After a week off from WSC competition, Citrus showed no signs of rust. Leading the charge was Kori Cunningham, who dominated the Women's 100-yard Freestyle with a personal-best time of 55.09, securing first place. Teammate Maryeon Reedy also posted a personal best in the event, clocking in at 1:06.15 to finish fifth. Close behind were Marieona Reedy (1:06.23) and Natalie Abril (1:06.35), finishing sixth and seventh, respectively. Katelyn Wright rounded out the impressive performance with a personal best time of 1:25.04. 

Cunningham continued her winning ways in the Women's 50-yard Freestyle, touching the wall first at 26.32—a full second ahead of the runner-up. Trinity Hulet and Natalie Abril finished eighth and ninth, while Katelyn Wright secured another personal best at 36.49, placing 11th. 

On the men's side, Ethan Gregory led the way in the 50-yard Freestyle, finishing sixth with a time of 24.86, while Trace Faskell took 11th at 25.87. Gregory later returned to the pool for the Men's 100-yard Freestyle, setting a personal best at 54.42 to take sixth place, with Faskell also achieving a personal best at 55.53 for ninth. 

Gabi Terry shined in the Women's 200-yard Individual Medley, claiming second place with a personal-best time of 2:52.30. Meanwhile, Milton Gutierrez set a season-best in the Men's 200-yard IM, finishing in 2:42.84. Gutierrez continued his strong meet by setting another personal best in the Men's 200-yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:42.57, earning a sixth-place finish. On the women's side, Hannah Wu continued her impressive season with a third-place finish in the 200-yard Breaststroke at 2:56.62. 

In the Women's 200-yard Backstroke, Trinity Hulet clocked a personal best of 2:50.42 to finish fifth, while Marieona Reedy followed closely behind in sixth with a time of 2:58.83. 

While the Women's 400-yard Freestyle Relay team was unfortunately disqualified, the Men's 400-yard Freestyle Relay squad secured a solid third-place finish with a time of 4:02.57. 

Up next, Citrus Swimming will be back in action at the Riverside City College Invitational on Saturday, March 5.
