Owls Shine with Personal Bests at RCC "Last Chance Invitational"
Citrus College Swimming competed in the "Last Chance Invitational" at Riverside City College this past Friday, April 4, facing off against strong local programs including Mt. San Antonio College, Long Beach City College, Saddleback College, Chaffey College, Rio Hondo College, and San Diego Miramar College.
The Owls got a solid performance in the Men's 200-yard Medley Relay, finishing ninth with a time of 1:55.20.
In the Women's 100-yard IM, Hannah Wu tied her personal best, clocking in at 1:09.39, which earned her seventh place overall. Teammates Trinity Hulet and Gabi Terry both set personal bests in the same event, finishing with times of 1:16.93 (12th overall) and 1:19.10 (15th overall), respectively.
On the men's side, Liam Ross placed 13th in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:06.17. He also earned a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard Fly, clocking in at 2:27.29.
Kori Cunningham had an outstanding meet, setting a new personal best and taking first place in the Women's 200-yard Free with a time of 2:00.81. She also placed eighth in the 50-yard Free (26.25), and third in the 100-yard Free with a time of 55.96. Natalie Abril (29.05) and Katelyn Wright (35.77) also achieved personal bests in the 50-yard Free, while Trinity Hulet recorded a personal best of 1:06.15 in the 100-yard Free (19th overall).
In the Women's 100-yard Fly, Gabi Terry placed eighth with a personal best of 1:20.77. She also set a personal best in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:46.30, finishing 14th overall.
In the Women's 100-yard Breaststroke, Maryeon Reedy (1:29.09, 11th overall) and Natalie Abril (1:33.29, 13th overall) both hit new personal bests.
In the Men's 50-yard Free, Ethan Gregory led the Owls with a time of 24.60 (19th overall), followed by Trace Faskell (26.08, 34th) and James Pulley, who set a personal best of 26.98.
Gregory also placed 14th in the 100-yard Free with a time of 54.84, and Faskell finished 26th with 57.75. In the 200-yard Free, Faskell placed 13th (2:06.80), and Gregory followed in 15th with a personal best of 2:09.90.
In the Women's 200-yard Breast, Hannah Wu finished 10th (2:59.30), and Maryeon Reedy achieved another personal best of 3:12.69, good for 12th place.
Milton Gutierrez had a strong showing with personal bests in the Men's 200-yard Breast (2:39.18, 10th) and 100-yard Breast (1:10.68, 15th). He also logged a season-best time of 2:40.78 in the Men's 200-yard IM.
Up next, Citrus College Swimming will compete in the Western State Conference (WSC) Championships, hosted by Santa Monica College, from April 17–19.
