Owls Shine With Personal Bests at Conference Opener

Citrus College swimming competed at the Western State Conference No. 1 meet hosted by Los Angeles Valley College on Friday, Feb. 20.

Ethan Gregory posted a season-best 2:12.91 in the Men's 200 Freestyle. In the Women's 50 Freestyle, Mackenzie Aguilar placed ninth in 30.84, followed by teammates Natalie Naranjo (35.85) and Cadence Simental (50.59).

Gregory also led the Owls in the Men's 50 Freestyle, finishing fifth in a season-best 25.09. Jason Nonis (32.05) and Sian Caceres (32.91) placed 14th and 15th, respectively.

Naranjo added a seventh-place finish in the Women's 200 Individual Medley at 3:22.39. In the Men's 200 Individual Medley, Benjamin Johnston took seventh with a personal-best 2:40.74, while Noah Guzman was ninth in 3:04.35.

Aguilar and Naranjo later competed in the Women's 100 Butterfly, placing ninth (1:28.69) and 12th (1:40.38). In the Men's 100 Butterfly, Morrison Villa finished ninth with a personal-best 1:11.88.

Aguilar also placed 10th in the Women's 100 Freestyle in 1:12.83. Trace Faskell led Citrus in the Men's 100 Freestyle, finishing fourth with a personal-best 54.58, while Caceres was 19th in 1:15.31.

Villa took fourth in the Men's 100 Backstroke in 1:06.34, and Johnston added an eighth-place personal best of 1:17.38. Faskell recorded another personal best in the Men's 100 Breaststroke, placing fifth in 1:09.87. Nonis (1:25.37) finished 12th and Guzman (1:39.22) 15th.

Citrus' Men's 200 Freestyle Relay team placed fourth in 1:42.79, while the Men's 200 Medley Relay team finished sixth in 2:04.05 at the Western State Conference meet for Citrus College.
