Vega Ready to Compete at Idaho State
Citrus College's Robert Vega becomes another Owl to continue his playing career as he heads to Idaho State.
"To me, playing at the next level means everything, it is a big dream that I have accomplished," said Vega. "I've always been the type to work for the things that I want and last season was no exception. Besides all the work that was put in not only by me but by my amazing teammates last year, we were able to get on college coaches' radars. The only thing to do from here is to continue working and with God by my side hopefully make it all the way to the NFL."
Vega, a sophomore wide receiver for the Owls, finished the year with 32 receptions for 549 yards, helping Citrus go undefeated in conference and win the program's first conference title since 2006. He averaged 17.2 yards per reception and scored six touchdowns on the year to earn All-American Metro League second-team offensive honors.
"My time at Citrus College has been everything and more," said Vega. "Not only did we make history by going 11-0, I also made new friends that will last me a lifetime. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank some of my teammates for pushing me, encouraging me, and making me a better person and player on and off the field. Starting with Isaiah Espinosa, Arden Napier, and lastly Adam Urena and Austin Urena. The moments I've spent with those guys will forever be the memories I cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you, Citrus College, for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, I'll forever be grateful for all the blessings it's given me."
