Owls Start Season With a Halloween Night Win

No. 5 ranked Citrus College Men's Basketball opened the 2025-26 season with an 88-78 Halloween night victory over Mt. San Antonio College on Friday inside the Owls' Nest.

With the win, Citrus starts the 2025-26 season at 1-0, while Mt. SAC opens 0-1.

The Owls came out firing in the first half, building a 39-21 lead behind hot shooting from Rockwell Reynolds (15 first-half points, 3-of-4 from three) and Dylan Victorio (10 first-half points, 2-of-5 from three). However, the Mounties responded with a 13-0 run to tie the game at 41 late in the half before Citrus took a 43-41 advantage into the break.

Citrus regained control in the second half, knocking down 7-of-15 from deep while holding Mt. SAC to just 2-of-10 from three and forcing 10 second-half turnovers. The Mounties trimmed the lead to six with under two minutes remaining, but Reynolds knocked down two clutch free throws and Leo Ricketts delivered a floater followed by a three-pointer to seal the win. Ricketts scored 14 of his 17 points in the final 20 minutes.

The Owls connected on 14-of-33 from three overall while holding Mt. SAC to 4-of-17. Citrus forced 24 total turnovers and turned them into a decisive 31 points.

Reynolds finished with a game-high 30 points on 12-of-20 shooting to go along with 11 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Ricketts posted 17 points, six assists and two rebounds. Victorio added 13 points and three steals, while Amiri Meadows led the game with four steals and added nine points. Off the bench, Dev Hamilton was a major spark with 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a block.

Citrus returns home next Tuesday, November 4 to host Orange Coast College at 6 p.m.
