Owls Stay Perfect in Conference With 99-82 Road Win

No. 4-ranked Citrus College Men's Basketball extended its winning streak to 11 games with a 99–82 road victory over College of the Canyons in a conference showdown on Wednesday night.

With the win, the Owls improved to 16–1 overall and 3–0 in conference play, while the Cougars dropped to 10–7 overall and 1–2 in conference.

Citrus jumped out early and never relinquished control, shooting 48.7 percent from the field (19-of-39) and 43.8 percent from three-point range (7-of-16) in the first half while forcing 15 Cougar turnovers. Dev Hamilton paced the Owls with 14 first-half points, and JJ Sanchez and Mikal Sims each chipped in nine as Citrus carried a 52–44 lead into the break.

The Owls continued to apply pressure in the second half, outscoring the Cougars 47–38 and building a commanding 19-point advantage with under seven minutes remaining. Citrus forced 10 more turnovers after halftime to seal the road win.

Citrus finished the night shooting 50.0 percent from the field (38-of-76) while knocking down nine three-pointers, holding a slight edge over the Cougars in rebounding (43–41) and assists (18–15). The Owls capitalized on Canyons' mistakes, forcing 26 turnovers and converting them into 19 points, while also controlling the interior with 56 points in the paint. Citrus' depth played a key role in the win, as the bench contributed 28 points.

Dev Hamilton led all scorers with 23 points on an efficient 11-of-14 shooting while pulling down nine rebounds and adding two steals. JJ Sanchez followed with 16 points, knocking down four three-pointers and grabbing seven rebounds, while Amiri Meadows contributed 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, and a game-high six steals. Off the bench, Mikal Sims provided a spark with nine points and two steals, as Citrus placed four players in double figures in the conference road win.

Citrus returns home for its fourth conference game of the season, hosting Santa Monica College on Saturday, January 14 at 1 p.m.
