Femath's Walk-Off Hit Powers Owls Past Panthers

Citrus College Softball hosted Chaffey College yesterday in their final non-conference home game, getting a 4-3 win after a 7th inning walk-off hit. 

Citrus College improves to 4-11 overall on the season, while Chaffey College goes to 8-10 overall. 

The Owls went down 1-0 in the top of the first inning before Madelyn Hajj put the Owls up 2-1 with a third inning double that drove in Sofia Femath and Harmony Torres. 

The Panthers scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning as the Owls went down 3-2. Madelyn Hajj crushed a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at 3-3, her team-leading sixth home run of the season. 

Caitlin Kelley pitched a 1-2-3 inning at the top of the seventh to keep the game tied at 3-3 going into the bottom of the inning. Caitlin Kelley hit a leadoff single in the bottom of the seventh inning and Kaliah Lopez came in to pinch run. Harmony Torres hit a sacrifice bunt to move Lopez to second base before Sofia Femath delivered a walk-off double that drove in Kaliah Lopez as the Owls celebrated at home plate. 

Citrus was led by Madelyn Hajj who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, one run scored and one walk. Sofia Femath went 2-for-2 with one RBI, one run scored and two walks. Rylee Praytor went 2-for-3, while Tatyanna Campos pinch ran for Praytor in the bottom of the second inning and stole a base. 

Caitlin Kelley (3-7) picked up her third win of the season, pitching all seven innings while only allowing six hits and three earned runs. 

Citrus College will travel to College of the Canyons tomorrow, March 6th for a 2:30 p.m. matchup with the Cougars who sit at 10-5 overall on the season.
