Owls Top Riverside City for Sixth Win of the Season
Citrus College Volleyball earned a big road victory on Wednesday night, September 10, taking down Riverside City College in four sets (25-17, 25-12, 22-25, 25-18). The Owls improve to 6-4 overall, while the Tigers drop to 2-6 on the season.
Citrus set the tone early by controlling the first two sets and nearly closed out the match in straight sets, but Riverside rallied late to take the third, 25-22. In the fourth, the teams traded points before the Owls pulled away behind clutch kills from Aaliyah Janae Freeman and Emma Cristales, who finished with 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
Freeman led the way with 12 kills, three digs, and two aces, while Cristales added 11 kills, 10 digs, and an ace. Sophia Martinez continued her hot start to the 2025 season, recording a game-high 20 digs along with 10 kills and an ace. Making her Citrus debut, Lily Whitney delivered an impressive 38 assists to go with six digs.
The Owls return to action this Friday, September 12, when they travel to Rio Hondo College for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Roadrunners.
