Volleyball Sweeps West LA for First Road Conference Win
Citrus College Volleyball earned its first road conference victory of the season last Friday, October 10, sweeping West LA College in straight sets, 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-15). With the win, the Owls improve to 10-8 overall and 2-2 in Western State Conference play.
Citrus controlled the match from start to finish, never allowing the Wildcats to score more than 14 points in a set. Emma Cristales led the way with 15 kills, eight digs, and a block assist. Naomi Dominguez added nine kills, an ace, a dig, and a block assist, while Sophia Martinez continued her strong season with eight kills, 11 digs, and an assist.
Aaliyah Janae Freeman contributed five kills, two digs, an assist, and an ace. Defensively, Sammi Rivard anchored the back row with 11 digs and two aces. Setter Justine Gonzales paced the offense with a game-high 22 assists to go along with six aces and five digs, while Lily Whitney chipped in nine assists and two digs.
Emily Desmartes and Kaiah Wilson each tallied two kills and a dig, and Savannah Mendoza added five digs to round out the defensive effort.
The Owls return home on Wednesday, October 15, to host Bakersfield College (5-14, 2-3) in another conference matchup. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
