In First Playoff Appearance Since 2013, Owls Show Fight Against Golden West
Women's Volleyball fell to Golden West College in straight sets, 3–0 (25–19, 25–8, 25–20), in the opening round of the 3C2A Women's Volleyball Southern California Regionals on Saturday night, November 22.
The loss wraps up a strong 2025 campaign for the Owls, who finish 15–13 overall and 7–5 in conference play—marking their winningest season since 2017. With the victory, No. 13–seeded Golden West advances to face No. 4 seed Santa Barbara City College on Tuesday, November 25.
In their first postseason appearance since 2013, the Owls battled throughout the night, pushing the Rustlers with 19 points in the opening set and 20 in the third. Sophomore middle blocker Aaliyah Janae Freeman led the way with eight kills and four digs. Jasemine Smith contributed four kills, three block assists and a dig, while Shaylen McFoy added three kills, four digs and three block assists. Emma Cristales posted three kills, four digs, an assist and a block assist, and Naomi Dominguez chipped in two kills, an assist, a dig and a block assist. Alexia Avalos guided the offense with 10 assists and added four digs.
After a productive and momentum-building season, the Owls now turn their focus to 2026, aiming to return to the postseason for a second straight year.
